The calculator works best for puppies between 8-16 weeks old. During this period, growth patterns are most predictable. For very young puppies (under 8 weeks) or older puppies (over 6 months), the predictions may be less precise as growth rates become more variable.

For mixed breeds, try to estimate the size category based on the dominant breed characteristics or the average of the parent breeds. If you’re unsure, choose the size category that seems most appropriate based on your puppy’s current appearance and weight. Keep in mind that mixed breed predictions are generally less accurate.

Several factors can cause variations: genetics (some puppies are naturally larger or smaller), nutrition quality and quantity, health conditions, spaying/neutering timing, and exercise levels. Environmental factors and individual metabolism also play roles. These variations are completely normal and don’t indicate any problems.
